What Is Stripe? Why haven’t I heard about it yet?
Stripe is a fast and secure way to accept credit card payments online. Stripe is trusted by thousands of companies from Fortune 500 companies to individuals, Macy’s, Adidas, Bloomingdales and everything in between, including people just like you.
And this secure and trusted online payment platform is still growing, most recently to a $9 billion valuation. Whether you know it or not, Stripe is quickly becoming the rails for all payment on the web, because it’s incredibly secure, powerful, and customizable.
Why We Use Stripe At Picatic Instead of PayPal?
Don’t get us wrong, we love PayPal too, but Stripe offers two massive benefits to event promoters on Picatic: higher ticket purchaser conversion and quicker access to funds. By using Stripe, your ticket purchasers complete the entire buying experience without leaving your event page. Therefore, they are more likely to convert. Also, event organizers get the funds from their event, quickly. Within 7 days of a ticket being sold, you’ll have your money in your account.
Stripe charges you one rate for each transaction. That’s it! It’s that simple! That means, our pricing to you can be straightforward.
Transaction and service fees
Stripe takes a simple approach. They charge a flat rate of 2.9% + 30¢ per successful charge as long as you’re doing under $1 million in volume per year. This rate varies country to country, but it’s always flat. They don’t disclose any special high volume rates.
The base fee for PayPal is the same as Stripe, 2.9% + 30¢, but PayPal throws in some extra service fees that make things a bit more complicated. Let’s compare Stripe and PayPal’s fees:
|Transaction fees||2.9% + 30¢||2.9% + 30¢|
|Charge cards from your website||$30 / month||Free|
|American Express||3.5%||Same flat rate|
|Micropayments (less than $10)||5% + .05¢||Same flat rate|
|Recurring Billing||$10 / month||Free|
|Advanced Fraud Protection||$10 / month||Free|
|Accept Apple Pay ©||Not available||Free|
When we use Stripe the payments and charges are simple, so we can pass that simplicity on to you, our amazing Picatic users.
